Sita Devi - Artist Profile

Sita Devi lives in the village of Jitwarpur close to the Madhubani town. She is a member of the Mahapatra brahmin caste who paints in the colorful bharni style. In 1975 she received a Master Craftsman Award (the highest national award given to folk artists) from the President of India. **
